Job Ref: 30774
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to work with a Chartered Building Services Engineering Consultancy in Preston. Known for their experience and capability on Healthcare, Education and Industrial projects, this opportunity represents the next phase of planned growth for the biggest team of Building Services design engineers in Preston. The criteria for a Senior Mechanical Engineer within their business is an engineer that is confident running the Mechanical elements of a Building Services project, helping to organise the team, being client facing and being able to develop a design through RIBA Stages 1-5. The bulk of this companies work is in the detailed design phases and they are known for having a solid reputation and reliable service offering across all of their sectors. You will be working across a broad range of engineering projects, including both new build and refurbishment projects across, predominantly, the North West of England and local to Preston, Lancaster, and Carlisle. Projects will be based in the Education, Residential, Healthcare, and Industrial sector in the main but they are not restrictive on the projects that they undertake. You will be working on Hospitals, Student Accommodation, University Buildings, Council projects and new build offices, this will provide you with great experience across a variety of sectors.
Ideally you will be coming from a contractor or another consultancy and be within a commutable area of Preston. The expectation is that you can go to the office 3 days a week as a minimum and any experience of working on Revit will be a benefit as the company has ambitious plans to transform into full Revit capability.
ONC/HNC qualifications as a minimum but ideally a degree and CIBSE membership with Chartership achieved or well on the way. Chartership is an option that is encouraged but not pushed. If you have some experience on the tools as a Plumber working in the sectors, or other associated Mechanical Building Services role it would be of great advantage too but is not essential.
They have strong traditions within the business, not just in the work that they do but also the social events that are done. The annual electrical engineers versus mechanical engineers Darts match is well contested and they have a couple of work outings per year, most recently an evening out in Manchester. Little perks including these mentioned are why they have a solid core of engineers working for them and a number of their staff have long tenure with the business.
