Job Title: Associate Director - Transport Planning

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Associate Director to lead a Transport Planning team in Birmingham. The role is ideal for a highly skilled and motivated Transport Planning professional with at least 12 years of experience in private consultancy, who is looking to step into a leadership position and further develop their career with a prestigious global firm.Role Overview:
As the Associate Director, you will be responsible for leading a dynamic Transport Planning team while managing a variety of challenging projects across different sectors. Your expertise will be key in overseeing the delivery of complex transport planning projects, including client relationship management, technical assessments, capacity modelling, and project invoicing. You will be expected to take an active role in business development and to grow the team through mentorship and project leadership.Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Transport Planning team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services and successful project outcomes.
- Develop and manage client relationships, leveraging your existing client base to drive business growth.
- Oversee project management for a wide range of transport planning projects, including technical assessments, capacity modelling, and project invoicing.
- Utilise your expertise in capacity modelling software such as Junctions 10 & LINSIG to solve complex transport planning challenges.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of SATURN Modelling, AutoCAD, and AutoTrack (desirable but not critical).
- Attend and represent the team at Public Exhibitions and Public Events, engaging with stakeholders and clients effectively.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of junior and mid-level professionals, fostering growth and development.
- Lead and participate in business development activities, contributing to proposals, presentations, and client meetings.
- Occasionally provide evidence at inquiries (desirable but not essential).
- Ensure high-quality communication and collaboration within the team and with clients.
Requirements:
- Minimum 12 years of experience, primarily within private consultancy (essential).
- Chartered Engineer status (ICE, CIHT, or equivalent).
- Strong client relationships and a demonstrated ability to attract and retain clients.
- Proficiency in capacity modelling software - particularly Junctions 10 & LINSIG.
- Knowledge of SATURN modelling would be beneficial.
- Experience in managing a wide variety of projects and taking ownership of invoicing processes.
- Demonstrable experience attending and representing clients at Public Exhibitions/Public Events.
- Full driving license with access to a car for travel.
- Experience with AutoCAD and AutoTrack is desirable.
- Proven leadership experience, with at least 2 years of line management responsibility.
- Experience of giving evidence at inquiries is an advantage but not critical.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients.
