Associate Structural Engineer

Calibre Search are working with a prestigious Engineering Consultancy who are looking to appoint an Associate to join their ever growing Leeds office that already provides multidisciplinary design and engineering services and integrated solutions across a wide range of sectors. Drawing upon a diverse skill set and a proven track record of delivery, they are playing a leading role in some of the world's most challenging and exciting engineering projects which include Education, Commercial, Residential, Airports, Defence, Energy, Civil Infrastructure, and Rail.
This role requires you to be a Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer with a proven track record of successful delivery of design projects from feasibility to practical completion and be responsible for the technical direction of their client's projects. This key appointment offers an exciting, challenging, and rewarding opportunity to apply knowledge, experience and problem-solving skills to lead and develop a major part of our business. There is also an opportunity to take up a management role within the structures team in the future, if the required people skills are demonstrated.
You will be required to demonstrate a developed understanding and presence within the local market in the Yorkshire/North-East region of England and will have the ability to focus their business to take full advantage of market conditions and have extensive experience in preparing bids and tendering opportunities. Credibility, competence and technical excellence are a given, as the role requires close working with their internal and external clients, decision makers, industry stakeholders and other consultants to develop robust design solutions through collaborative and proactive management of client demands - providing leadership from both a technical delivery and people management perspective.
In this role you will demonstrates extensive post graduate experience in major structural engineering building projects including experience of producing low embodied carbon solutions. You will have detailed knowledge of design codes and standards relating to structural engineering and detailed knowledge and experience of 2D and 3D design software packages and suitability of their use at project level.
A knowledge of construction implementation with proven site supervision experience is needed, as is a demonstrable experience of design delivery with specific experience of; steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber designs from concept to detailed delivery, foundation design and structural analysis including construction delivery. On top of this, you will be responsible for the co-ordination and management of other discipline inputs into projects and take financial responsibility for the structural fee on projects, where leading.
As a natural team builder developing the technical excellence of their growing team, you will be able to develop and motivate others and demonstrate a proven record of developing client relationships, winning new consultancy work and then delivering technically excellent design projects on time and to budget. You will Identify opportunities, lead and support business development and work winning / bidding activities and possess a natural curiosity for developing innovative, cost effective and low carbon solutions for their clients
You will have technical responsibility for successful structural engineering design delivery, including ensuring all necessary technical governance is undertaken. You will establish, develop and maintain relationships with key and prospective clients and stakeholders and also be responsible for the line Management and technical development and growth of the structural engineering team.
